Does My Exhaust Need Attention?

The importance of a healthy exhaust
Your cars exhaust system is one of the main parts on your vehicle and has 3 main roles these being; To control noise levels that your engine produces, To reduce emissions, To provide back pressure to the engine for performance. It is therefore essential that your exhaust system is kept in a good healthy condition to prolong future damage and increase life expectancy of your vehicle.
Catalytic Converter
Your catalyst converter and oxygen sensor control the fuel ratio emissions into the atmosphere, these can be checked before replacements are fitted. A faulty oxygen sensor will mean higher fuel bills.
Lambda Sensor
This sensor continously monitors and reports back to the vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit - the vehicles computer system) which controls the amount of fuel and air that your car uses to ensure all harmful gasses are burnt efficiently.
Should your Lambda sensor become faulty the ECU system should send out an error to your car and also send out a preset fuel and air mixture. However this may mean that your car is in fact burning more fuel than it a actually needs and therefore causing damage to the enviroment whilst also costing you more money.
With simple checks and our expert knowledge here at Ability Tyres we can simply check the condition of your Lambda sensor and provide advice where necessary.

Air conditioning is also a great way to demist your windows!
Our latest addition to the services we offer is Air Conditioning using the latest fully automated BOSCH system.
Air conditioning should be used at least weekly to lubricate the air conditioning system. Besides being an excellent addition to your vehicle during hot summer days air con helps demist the windows in the winter, this is because Air conditioning systems produce dry air rather than the natural humid air, therefore you will notice a much quicker window de-mist and keep you air con system lubricated throughout the winter when you switch on your Air Con system.
Due to the low usage of Air Con systems it is often un-noticed that your system needs recharging. Simply stop by Ability Tyres and we will check, advise and recharge your system while you wait.

Here at Ablity Tyres We are an approved MOT centre testing approved by VOSA (Vehicle Operator Services Agency) using the latest computerised testing systems.
Do I Need An MOT
If your vehicle is 3 Years or older by law you are required to annually have the car checked by a VOSA (a government body) approved mechanic where they will take out numerous strict safety checks to ensure your vehicle meets all the minimum safety requirements. Your vehicle will only be legal and fit to drive on the road if it successfully passes the annual test. Advice on how to possibly rectify problems that may of caused your vehicle to fail can be given at the time of the test.
